Initially, the student should realize that each school has different
levels it expects its incoming Freshman to achieve on these
assessment tests. Nationally, the average combined score is around 1500,with the math score a bit
higher than the verbal.
While the Horizons Research
Staff has been able to conclude that colleges use your high schoolgrade point average and
transcript as important tools in deciding admissions, it is clear that
the Scholastic Assessment Test score, which
has changed dramatically through the years, is becoming more and more important, and that it will
continue to do so!
Indeed, it was as early as
1926 that member schools of the College Board judged it necessary tofind some sort of benchmark
and criteria to know whether a student had the ability to do
college-levelwork, and the standard they
settled on was the SAT test.
Why do I need to take the SAT?
First of all, the student
needs to take the SAT because it is THE
criteria and standard that member schools use to judge
the ability of a student to do college-level
work!
Second, scholarship money
hangs in the balance with your SAT score!
Third, the time and money you
invest in the Horizons course can save
you tuition fees and expenses!
